Thank god they are getting older and slower. We are old and slow but are used to it. I think they are still adjusting to not being able to bend down and tie their skates. We have learned to tie each other's skates which has prevented a lot of tripping on the ice. Hopefully more teams will get old in a hurry and we can climb to the Championship!

This is the season.

Hi everybody,

Time for a new season to begin and time for more of my wisdom to be spread to the world. I used wonder if these blogs will prevent me from becoming president one day. After seeing Palin I realize it may actually help me! Being Captain and Coach is a lot like being President. I have to make all the tough choices and make sure my second in command knows what is going on. I have to mediate stupid disputes and talk to the refs, etc. Frankly, I am ready to be President. Make sure you put me in as a write in candidate.

Playoff Bound

Being the greatest coach and player in the world is very tiring but it is all worth it as we head to the playoffs as the number one seed. Last season I tried the opposite approach. Being the last place seed so we could play the first place seed. That worked as we won our first game but lost later on in the tournament. I sense exciting playoff hockey...........

We are getting so popular

Been awhile since I blogged but hey I got a life and can't do this all day. Recently we were challenged by the Cougars of the Northbrook league. This means that soon other countries will be calling to play the Chicago Chiefs. Soon I will be on Versus and getting just as many people watching as the NHL. I am also excited with the possibility of the NHL playing in Wrigley Field. If that happens let's hope they contact me to get our team involved.

I am always so right!!

I knew we were a good team. Sure you look at our last place regular season finish and you think otherwise. BUT YOU ARE ALL WRONG! I was just getting us into position for the playoffs. I travel a lot for work so I needed us to be in a position where I could be in town for the most playoff games. It worked perfectly. I wonder which NHL or College team will contact me first?? It would be sad to leave the Chiefs but if I can make Hockey popular to the masses again I guess I will have to do it. I would like to stay in Chicago. I wonder if Rocky Wirtz reads this???

Proof of Intelligent Design is on my Hockey Site

I recently got my first donation on my website. This moment only proves that through intelligent website design miracles can happen. This $5 donation will be the start of my world hockey domination. I will be soon building a church to Hockey with the many donations that will be coming in. Soon I will be afford that building near the Hockey Hall of Fame. Only a wise God could allow us to reach a point in world history to get a donation for beer to a hockey team. I wonder what Darwin would be thinking if alive today.

Let's Keep the Holiday Blogs Going

So I have done Thanksgiving, Hanukah, well let's do a Christmas Blog. It is early but I don't care they bring out the Christmas stuff during Thanksgiving. Recently God destroyed many lives and property and cancelled my flight. This allowed me to play hockey so was this a Christmas miracle or a late Hanukah miracle? I am jewish but so was Jesus. Other important holiday announcements. I want my kids to play hockey and they don't so I am going to buy them all hockey gear so they will have no other toys and will have to skate. I also am taking away allowance till they play, this is for their own good. Who ever plays first gets on the will list. Also, if you are reading this please donate on our site. You can donate beer to the Chiefs which could be the greatest Christmas miracle ever. Happy Holidays.

Many people don't know the history of Hannukah and how it relates to hockey today. Well to make a long story short when the Maccabees kicked butt against Antiochus and his soldiers they used some of the first hockey shaped sticks. These Jews (and yes I am one) learned our incredible stick handling skills from these first street hockey players. So next time you are looking at your candles burning on your Menorah you can imagine them as hockey sticks. Have a happy Hannukah!

Thanksgiving Coaches Corner

Many people ask me what I am thankful for as a world renown coach and hockey player. Well sure family, friends, good health, always come to mind but what really should matter to everyone is ICE. That's right I am thankful for ICE. Without ice my beer would be warm, my house would be hot in the summer, and most importantly I could not skate. Sure they have plastic ice but what fun is that! Without Ice we would not have had the Ice Age which got rid of those pesky Wooly Mammoths. Without the little ice age Europe may have been able to maintain their dominance across the world. The other thing that ice allows me to do is I get to play and coach on the greatest hockey team every assembled. The mighty Chicago Chiefs. When the next ice age comes our team will be painted on the caves of our future kin, aliens will tremble in fear at the name and the abilities of these mighty athletes. So this Turkey Day don't just think of your family, friends, and good fortune think of what really matters...ICE.

Happy Thanksgiving Day!!

Several times I have been in the situation of having to step up to keep a team in the game close in a game. Recently, I purposely went out of town when we played a very weak team knowing that if I was there the victory would have been ridiculously easy. But being out of town made my team step up and win a close game thus building up their confidence that they can win without me. Obviously, I run the risk that they only win when I am out of town but that is just an artifact of my incredible strategies and know how of the game. A great coach has to suffer for his craft.

Coaches Corner for 10/20. How to motivate a team with violence

Welcome to this weeks Coaches Corner. How do you get your team to the next level?? The answer is easy. Get into a useless fight. That's right, violence is the answer. Watching your coach or team captain mix it up with some kids parent who is ragging at you does wonders. Recently, I had to be the third man into an imaginary fight. While I did get kicked out of the game we came back to lose the game in a shoot out. Did we win because I was no longer there to let them score? NO! It was because my team had to step up and not count on my wisdom and ability to bail them out. Violence made them grow-up from the babies they were into the teen-age violent thugs I know they could be. Remember next time your team is doing badly just think of something violent to do. Until next week happy skating.

Welcome to another coaches corner. Sometimes I am asked how the Chiefs can win when I am not there. Well the answer is simple. Motivation comes from different areas. When I am not there the team has to dig deep into the recesses of their souls and work harder than ever. As a father figure they don't want to disappoint me and suffer the beating that I dole out in practice during my druken rages. The also hate to see me cry as I apologize for the hockey stick beatings they have forced me into doing. Yes, it is a loving family that the Chiefs are and I hope that this family continues to improve and become the champions they need to be. Until next week happy hockey!

Coach Ian

Coaches Corner for the week of 10/12/07

Hello Hockey Rats. Welcome to some more tips and tricks from the worlds greatest hockey coach...me! A coach has to be able to know all the postions and how to adapt them based on game situations. During the Chiefs last game our goalie went to the wrong rink. This was my fault as I should have remembered that goalies have minimal memory capacity and the odds or remembering where to go and how to drive the car at the same time can bring down the best goalies. Now to set an example for my team I stepped between the pipes. Sure sounds insane but with my cat-like reflexes, in ability to know pain, and a good insurance policy I felt comfortable keeping the game from being a forfeit. By doing this I recieved my teams respect and while they were toasting me with the beer I brought I thought this is what it is all about. Until next week. Skate Hard!
